We are proud to announce the twelve selected Indigenous and local community Global Learning Fellows for 2022.
The Dedicated Grant Mechanism for Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (DGM) Global Learning Fellowship aims to cultivate long-term strengthening of Indigenous peoples and local community (IPLC) leadership within the DGM network by providing virtual in-depth global learning experiences for DGM subproject implementers as a way of building capacity in DGM-specific topics, amplifying IPLC voices, and enhancing the visibility of their efforts and expertise. The objective of the fellowship is to strengthen local to global storytelling, shared learning, and knowledge exchange across the DGM network so that IPLCs can learn from and potentially adapt one another’s best practices in DGM project implementation to a local context.

This year’s Global Learning Fellows’ areas of expertise include traditional knowledge, territorial management, gender, social inclusion, agroforestry, governance, community enterprises, climate smart agriculture, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and environmental justice.
The Global Learning Fellowship is a four-month program where fellows participate in and present on their experience and results in knowledge sharing sessions, create relevant knowledge products to share back with their communities and networks, and receive virtual training/e-learning in a particular area of interest. Throughout the fellowship, DGM Global will facilitate virtual knowledge-sharing events and dialogues that will also be open to DGM stakeholders and non-Forest Investment Program countries who wish to participate and explore the technical topics and tools that support effective implementation of DGM activities on the ground.
